Latest News: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Marian Home #7
On Saturday, July 17th, 2020, Marian Homes celebrated the long-waited dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for our seventh home for people with intellectual disabilities located at 9817 Limoges Drive in Somerset subdivision in Fairfax. We acquired this 5-bedroom, rambler-style home on January 31, 2020, and awarded a design and build contract to Hensel Phelps the following week to oversee and lead the conversion effort. Hensel Phelps and its team of subcontractors exceeded our expectations for quality, efficiency, cost, and schedule performance.
Bishop Burbidge, assisted by Father Barkett, pastor of Saint Mary of Sorrows, Mr. Jim McHugh, President of Marian Homes, and a host of other dignitaries officiated at this socially-distanced ceremony for what we are calling the Mother of Good Counsel home. Chimes International is working through the County and Commonwealth procedures to gain approval for opening our new home. We expect that 5 adult women with intellectual disabilities will move in by the middle of August.
